from the Lower Lost Creek Trail

I have often enjoyed hiking to Bridal Veil Falls, and it is beautiful in any season.  The problem is that when you often hike the Provo River Trail to the base of the falls, you end up with photos like the one on the left taken earlier this winter.  When you see breathtaking gallery photos of Bridal Veil Falls, they are more like the perspective of the one on the right, but taken with a better camera, and on a better day.

This blog post is helping you find this secret spot that is a photographers dream for taking photos of Bridal Veil Falls.

DIRECTIONS TO TRAIL

First you have to be heading West out of Provo Canyon.  There is a small turn off on the right side of the road RIGHT AFTER the left turn to the Bridal Veil parking lot.  This trail is called Lost Creek Trail.  The trail goes left out of the parking lot, but then you want to take the first 2 rights.  If you take a right and then a left you are on Lost Creek Trail, and there is another waterfall up that section of the trail.   It is more an old dirt road than a hiking trail, but the views of Cascade Mountain and Bridal Veil Falls are really stunning.

GOD WANTS YOU TO LOOK UP NOT SIDEWAYS

As I was walking on this trail, my mind came to a wonderful lesson I heard from one of my leaders.  They said that so often we are so busy looking sideways comparing ourselves to others, that we forget to look up.  God wants us to Look up and see ourselves with his loving arms.  He loves us, and wants us to see ourselves with the potential that God sees in us.  No judgments, no criticisms, just cheering us on to believe in our potential.  That is definitely what I thought about this hike.  If you spend your time just looking sideways you might not be inspired, but if you just look up, it is stunning.

OTHER FAVORITE UTAH WATERFALL HIKES

If you LOVE waterfall hikes, Utah has some beautiful ones.  Here are some of my favorite.

BELL CANYON WATERFALL is gorgeous, and I also love that it is as pretty of a hike in the winter as in the Spring/Summer months.

UPPER PROVO RIVER FALLS is short, but there are multiple ones back to back.  It also has a beautiful step feature behind the waterfall that is really something.

SCOUT FALLS is a seasonal fall.  You can't access it in the Winter, and the Summer and Fall it dries up and it not as pretty.  That just means that this hike needs to be prioritized in the Spring, for it is very worth the time.

HORSETAIL FALLS is a little tricky to find, but I absolutely love the lower part of this trail along the river.  It is a gorgeous falls, but the last stretch of this hike is a little hard.  Totally doable, but I definitely would not take kids, elderly, or those scared of heights.

UPPER FALLS is so often overlooked because it is just up the road a few miles from Bridal Veil Falls, and it is not as huge as Bridal Veil, but it is a beautiful falls, and well worth the short hike up to it.  It also has a trail across Provo Canyon to view this hike from a distance, like I did above.  I like to pair this short hike with a stroll up the Provo River Parkway, for that is a really nice walk.

BATTLECREEK Canyon has an really beautiful waterfall that you can rope climb or rappel down the side, or stand right underneath.  It is a fairly easy hike.  The thing I love about this trail is that there are so many waterfalls.  I made up a Scavenger Hunt to Find all the Waterfalls on this trail on this Blog post to make for a fun addition to this hike.
