Dead Horse Point State Park - VR360 Nature Vacation

Dead Horse State Park is a gorgeous side shoot area off from the Canyonlands Island in the Sky Natural Park.  It features the beautiful Colorado River winding in a horse shoe type shape through the deep red cliffs.  You can drive right to this area, and then stroll around many beautiful scenic spots.  I believe it is the most beautiful in the early morning hours.  

This area can be paired with lots of fun adventures.  Here are some of my favorites:

• You can pair this with a fun dirt road drive on Long Canyon Rd starting at Jug Handle Arch along the Colorado River.  The look out of the fins in Arches National park is fantastic, and driving under the huge fallen rock is quite the fun challenging task.
• You can enjoy the trail of Grand View Point in Island in the Sky.  It is a fabulous hike that truly feels like you are walking on an Island in the Sky.
• You can pair it with watching the Base Jumpers jump off the cliffs in this area.
• If you feel very adventuresome, you can drive the road that you see from Dead Horse Point state park and drive the Dangerous Shafer Canyon dirt Road.   There is also some great switch back road that winds from up near the Base Jumpers camp down to the bank of the Green River that is similar to Shafer road but not quite so busy.
