Well hello! Welcome to a 'peaceful window' into the heart of Zion National Park. ✨ Zion is a place so immense it feels like a true land of giants. But to be completely honest with you, my journey to creating this 3-hour sanctuary has been a long, full-circle adventure back to my roots.
Years ago, a kind soul started buying my VR videos to take into rest homes. He wanted to give the elderly a chance to be transported to beautiful places they could no longer visit. It was a brilliant idea, but VR headsets can be heavy and disorienting for some. For a while, I lost my way trying to build a VR community. I tried to please algorithms with fast cuts, green screens, and costumes, only to find out the platforms banned my favorite peaceful timelapses anyway! I flatlined, and I was heartbroken that hours of gorgeous, patient footage were going to waste in 6-minute clips.
But stepping back and reframing my beautiful 360° footage for a flat screen changed everything. I realized that Slow TV is my true home. I am so deeply grateful to be back full circle, sharing the footage I have so carefully gathered over the years without the pain of a VR headset. This three-hour 'cinematic observation' is a 100% human-made, completely authentic experience. Whether you are seeking a 'moving meditation' or a soothing visual for memory care, I hope this sanctuary blesses you with an inspirational message of peace.

Gazing at the Vertical Wonder
There is a specific feeling that washes over you when you enter Zion. The canyon walls rise up like ancient fortresses, making you feel beautifully small. As we walk the trail together in this film, you'll experience what I call the "measured footsteps"—a rhythmic, grounding sound of walking along the ancient canyon floor.
I framed this journey in an ultra-wide panoramic view to give your eyes room to breathe. Instead of quick cuts and fast-paced travel vlog energy, we simply let the canyon hold us. We watch the light shift across the stone, turning the deep 'dungeon' shadows into 'simply marvelous' gold. Along the way, you'll see signs identifying the magnificent peaks that stand like silent guardians over the valley.
📖 Traveler's Tale: Walter's Wiggles
While this video is all about peace, the reality of hiking Zion can be intense! During this trip, I made the long, arduous trek up the famous switchbacks known as Walter's Wiggles to reach Scout Lookout. It really is quite amazing seeing the viw of Walter Wiggles from the bigger persepctive and see this crazy climb.
🌟 The Golden Nugget: The Sunrise Secret
Zion is notoriously tricky for sunrises because the massive canyon walls block the early light. I can't tell you how many mornings I sat in the dark waiting for a sunrise that never hit the canyon floor! My absolute best secret is the drive into Zion from the East Side. Almost every small pull-out has a fun, unofficial trail to wander far from the crowds. Watching the white and yellow formations of Checkerboard Mesa light up in the morning sun is pure magic. Keep an eye out for these hidden textures in the video!
Sacred Soundscapes
For a true sanctuary, what you hear and feel is just as important as what you see. I filmed the Emerald Pools footage in the beautiful afternoon light of spring. It wasn't dry and dusty; the waterfalls were flowing beautifully, and there were flowers lining the trail giving off their lovely scents. As you walk the trail, there are no overwhelming smells—just the clean, surprising fragrance of a tiny blooming bush or a patch of fresh desert sage catching on the breeze.
To elevate this experience, the natural sounds are beautifully woven with the soft, healing piano scores of Scott Buckley. It is a harmonious blend designed to lower your heart rate and provide a deep, immersive "Positive Boost" for your home.
📖 Traveler's Tale: The Heart of a Lion
While hiking up to the Emerald Pools to film a timelapse of the clouds dancing across the mountains, I met a young woman with a twisted, shorter leg. You could see the sheer physical toll every single step took on her body, but her determination was fierce.
I sat there next to my camera, talking with her worried mother about whether they'd make it back down before the last bus left for the night. My heart broke watching the young woman's deep disappointment when she realized the rugged terrain made it impossible for her to reach the upper waterfalls. I ache for people like her—and like Daniel, who I met at Glacier National Park—who possess the heart and determination of lions, but face impossible physical barriers.
This is exactly why I make these videos. I want to give those with lion hearts the gift of feeling like they truly got to deep-dive and experience these majestic places, without the pain of the climb.

From the VR Archives: Finding Poetry for the Peace
To capture the true feeling of scale, I wrote a poem for this landscape. Put on your goggles and join me at Scout Lookout and the Canyon Overlook trail.
🔎 Archival VR Treasure Hunt
- The Great Arch: In the "Zions Giant" video, can you find the shot looking down on the Great Arch of Zion from the Canyon Overlook trail?
