My Favorite Medieval Town: A 360° Guide to Pérouges

"You turn a corner and magic starts happening."
So, Pérouges was another magical experience. You park in a generic parking lot, and honestly, it feels like you are not anywhere special. But then, you walk up, turn a corner, and magic starts happening.
The beautiful medieval town comes alive. I love it because it is not old and static; there are lovely flowers lining the paths and hanging on the ancient walls. You enter the square, and there are people sitting at restaurants, cute storefront signs, and warm light pouring out from the shops.
The tiny alley streets have the most adorable home fronts with their cobblestone slanted streets. It is fun to imagine how this small town must have been such a cute, tight-knit community. It is so charming—I think it is my favorite medieval town I have ever visited.
🌟 The Golden Nugget
Don't Miss This: While the cobblestones are famous, the real treasure is hidden in a shop! My husband Todd found an incredible Steampunk Store here. The creations were phenomenal, including an amazing gear watch with a leather pouch. Keep your eyes peeled for this unique spot!

💡 Traveler's Tips
- Split Up: The town is small and safe enough that we felt comfortable splitting up. It allowed us all to find our own "treasures"—like the girls finding cute shops and Todd finding the Steampunk store.
- Check the Calendar: Pérouges hosts amazing events like a Venetian Parade (April) and a Medieval Festival (June). Check their website before you go!
- Visit at Night: As the sun sets, the lights pouring out of the shops onto the cobblestones make it feel truly magical.
