Your Trail Guide: Helpful Hints

♦️ 4WD Recommended: The dirt road up to the lake from Tibble Fork is rough and rutted. A high-clearance, 4-wheel drive vehicle is best. No trailers are allowed.
♦️ Go Early!: The parking lot is very small and fills up quickly, especially on weekends. If it's full, you have to turn around, as there is no parking on the road.
♦️ Best in Spring: The lake is at its most beautiful in late spring when it's full and the surrounding peaks still have snow. It gets very small and can even dry up by late fall.
♦️ Hike to Silver Lake: The parking lot is also the trailhead for the more strenuous hike up to the upper Silver Lake. This is a great option for a more challenging adventure.
